Working on an Examination
How to work through a title examination in Platted.
Getting Started
Once you add the first document to an order, it moves to In Progress status and you can begin your examination work.
Recommended Workflow
1. Add Documents
- Search the title plant for recorded documents
- Import relevant deeds, mortgages, liens, and releases
- Upload any supporting documents (contracts, title requests)
- Wait for document processing to complete
2. Review the Runsheet
- Scan the complete chain of title
- Check for gaps in ownership
- Note any open encumbrances
3. Verify Key Documents
- Current vesting deed
- Active mortgage(s)
- Recent conveyances
4. Check for Issues
- Unreleased liens
- Judgments against parties
- Missing documents
- Chain breaks
5. Review Extractions
- Verify party names
- Confirm recording information
- Check legal descriptions
- Address any documents flagged for review
6. Make Corrections
- Edit any incorrect extractions
- Override matter statuses as needed
- Add missing information
Adding Documents During Examination
You can add documents at any time:
- Search the title plant for additional recorded documents
- Upload supporting documents as needed
New documents will process and appear on the runsheet.
Completing the Examination
When finished, see Completing Orders to mark the order complete.
